ACTO DE GRADUACIÓN   2009

Mensaje de los alumnos: En inglés: Dina Morales, Adriana Sanchez

 Good morning

Wow… it’s amazing how 14 years of love, friendship and laughter have just flown by. And  it  seems  that  not  long  ago  we  were  just  children  playing  happily  in  the kindergarten, juniors in 1st grade longing to become seniors … because they are so "cool", the big ones…

And today we are all here, joined together as one, having fulfilled our first big dream…our graduation.

To stand here today means more than just having studied for good marks; it means having made our parents proud; and it means having proved to ourselves that we can achieve  everything  that  we  are  determined  to  accomplish. It  also  means  having successfully completed the first significant stage in our lives, and that happy, but also difficult, times are waiting ahead of us.Throughout  the  last  14  years  the  Instituto  Austriaco Guatemalteco has provided us with  the  necessary  education.  Throughout  the  last 14  years  we have gained the experience and the maturity to face life just as it is with the help of our parents and, of course, our friends. So this is why we are not celebrating an ending today, but a whole new  beginning:  A  beginning  filled  with  new  challenges;  a  life  in  which  we  will  push doors open, and even though some of these doors will fall back on us, we have learned to collect ourselves again, to dust ourselves off, and to push again – even harder.

All our achievements and future goals will lead us into different directions. But we will never  forget  the  most  incredible  moments  we  have  shared  with  each  other,  all  the experiences  that  we  have  gone  through,  everything  that  we  have  learned  from  each other over the past years, and this will stay in our hearts forever.

We would like to tell you that we are very proud of you all. We know how difficult it was to get here, but we are all gathered here today to celebrate the outcome of 14 years of hard work. We have all been waiting for this day for a long time. In 14 years we have bonded in ways that cannot be explained to those who have not experienced it. We are the class of 2009.  We  are  unique  and  everyone  here  has  contributed  something  to  this  class: there  are  the  geeks,  the  dancers,  the  class  clowns,  the  singers,  the  talkers,  the musicians, the writers and the artists. There are the shy ones, the quiet ones, the loud ones, the comic ones and the crazy ones.

But  most  importantly,  here,  in  front  of  us  are  the  future  leaders  of  our  country: engineers, doctors, lawyers, architects, designers... And it is the responsibility of all of us to take the tools that we have been given at this school and use them to construct the  future  of  Guatemala.  We  have  all  been  looking  forward  to  overcoming  our  first challenge which has consumed time, patience and hard work. However, we would like you to look around. Look at your former classmates who have been like your family for 14 years, and remember this moment. Think of all the good times we have shared and keep those memories in your hearts, because when we walk out of that door, real life is going  to  happen  to us. As  we  said  before,  we  will  all  go  our  different  ways  as  we pursue  our  dreams.  Nevertheless,  we  have  seen  wonderful  friendships  grow  and  we dare say that these friendships will last forever. Even if we are scattered all around the world, these 14 years will never be forgotten and we have to say we are honored to have spent our schooldays with all of you.

We are finally here, not only to thank our classmates , but to thank the people that we care for the most: our principal, our teachers, and especially our families. All we want to say is thank you, because we would not have succeeded without your help and support. Everything we have worked for has finally paid off. It is an honor for all of us to graduate from the Instituto Austriaco Guatemalteco, and today for both of us, it has also been an honor to speak for our classmates, our brothers and sisters. Congratulations to the class of 2009!
